The University of Nebraska at Omaha School of Public Administration offers a professionally oriented Master's Degree in Public Administration (MPA). The MPA degree is the recognized graduate degree for professional positions focusing on the public sector. The Online MPA program offers three concentrations: local government, public management and aviation administration.
Several advantages of UNO’s Online MPA include:
High-quality curriculum from a distinguished university . The UNO MPA has been offered online since 2000. The Online MPA program was the first accredited MPA program in the U.S. to be delivered completely via the Internet, so you can be assured of a high-quality degree program meeting nationally ranked standards of professional education . The program is accredited by the National Association of Public Affairs and Administration (NASPAA), which conducts a rigorous, voluntary, peer self-study review process.
The School of Public Administration at UNO has been ranked by U.S. News & World Report's America's Best Graduate Schools (2009 edition) as one of the nation's top programs. Public Affairs rankings, UNO ranked 27th nationally and tied for 15th place among public institutions.
Low tuition from a convenient, accessible location. Courses are taught entirely online, with the exception of a mandatory on-site orientation session. Students come to Omaha for a one-day intensive session the semester they begin the program. This way you pick the location to access your classes – at home, work, or on the road. For the 2008-2009 academic year, tuition for the Online MPA program was $204.25 per credit hour, plus an additional non-resident distance education tuition fee of $190 per credit hour.
The online program is taught using the same faculty and courses offered on campus. The faculty are national leaders in the field as scholars, in professional associations, and have extensive practitioner experience. Students will find that the faculty and support staff have plenty of experience fostering and sustaining an active online learning community. Students have an opportunity to meet their instructors and fellow students during their orientation session. To participate in the online program, students must live more than 50 miles from Omaha or Lincoln.
Schedule classes to suit your busy lifestyle. The online program schedule is designed for students to take one or two classes per semester. A student beginning in the fall taking two courses a semester (including summers) can finish the 39-credit hour degree in two years plus one additional course.
